Job Description
Mo tenei turanga | About the role The Family and Sexual Harm (FaSH) Professional role provides support via various helplines (Shine, Family Violence, Elder Abuse, NZDF4U, Women's Refuge, and Safe to Talk/Korero mai ka ora) operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. We have shifts from 3:30 pm - midnight that we have available. Full-time or part-time applicants are welcome.
We encourage applicants with experience in Kaupapa Maori or Maori models of care. You are able to work from home or in one of our offices in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.
Your role will involve the following aspects:
Risk assessment followed by appropriate safety planning and referrals
Providing non-judgemental support and psychoeducation within the context of family and sexual harm
Engaging with callers using multiple communication channels such as phone, email, SMS and online chat
Supporting callers when they are experiencing a high-risk situation
Communicating with external agencies (including emergency services)
Accurate documentation of notes and relevant information on various databases
Supporting other team members in the Family and Sexual Harm Team during risk calls / risk engagements and providing de-briefing support where needed
Participating in quality improvement and service developments to ensure effective and safe service delivery
Required to be able to answer calls, emails, SMS and online chat for our other Family and Sexual harm services
Qualifications

Ou wheako ou matauranga hoki - Qualifications and experience
Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. social work, psychology, counselling, mental health nursing or psychotherapy
Registration with one of the following professional bodies: Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW), New Zealand Association of Counsellors / Te Roopu Kaiwhiriwhi Aotearoa (NZAC), Addictions Practitioners' Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ), New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association (NZCCA)
For Safe to Talk line, 3+ years' experience in a Trauma, Sexual Violence and Mental Health role
Whakarongorau Aotearoa acknowledges Mana Maori and matauranga Maori as a professional skill set
