Haematology Registrars (Advance Trainees) (2025 RMO Training Year) Full time, Permanent Start date from 27 January 2025 About us Palmerston North Regional Hospital is the premier healthcare institution in the MidCentral Region.
With a dedicated Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit, and Regional Cancer Treatment Service, as well as one of the largest trauma centres nationwide, Palmerston North Hospital provides industry-leading specialised care and emergency treatment to the MidCentral region.
The position is to join a team of seven consultant haematologists and haematology registrars based at Palmerston North Hospital.
The service provides haematology services to a population of approximately 500,000, which includes the geographical area of the Manawatu (Palmerston North), Whanganui, Taranaki (New Plymouth and Hawera) and Hawkes Bay (Napier, Hastings).
Inpatient care is provided at Palmerston North Hospital with outreach visiting clinics to Whanganui, Hawera, New Plymouth and Hastings.
A full range of haematology services is provided including coagulation, thrombosis, non-malignant and malignant haematology including acute myeloid leukaemia and autologous stem cell transplant.
The position would include working on the haematology inpatient ward and haematology outpatient clinics.
Haematology clinics include both local clinics and monthly overnight regional clinics.
The on-call commitment is for participation in the oncology after-hours rosters for weekdays 4-11pm and weekends 8-11pm.
Call is shared among approximately 11 oncology registrars.
Appointments for 12-24 months are available.

About you Our ideal candidate will have: Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
