Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ) is a crown agency with a big mission: to take New Zealand's education experiences to the world, delivering enduring economic, social, and cultural benefits. Working with partners both in New Zealand and internationally, ENZ aims to more than double the export value of international education by 2027.

This role is part of a newly formed leadership team, collaborating with other key senior leadership roles to set a future-focused direction for ENZ. You will be an exceptional leader, decisive and apt at leveraging the specialist skills of your team members.

The nature of the position
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and as a key member of ENZ's Leadership Team, this unique position operates at the intersection of strategy and finance, tackling complex business challenges to propel the organisation towards growth.

The role focuses on leading the strategic process, influencing decision-making at the highest levels, and collaborating with key stakeholders to align the organisation with its goals. Broadly, the position shapes and executes ENZ's strategy, plays a pivotal role in driving performance and ensures that ENZ's enabling services effectively support its mission to achieve long-term success in the international education sector.

Key responsibilities:Strategic leadership: Lead the development and delivery of ENZ's strategy, ensuring alignment with Te Tiriti and international education objectives.Business planning & performance: Oversee business planning, financial and performance monitoring, and reporting to ensure ENZ's strategies are executed effectively.Strategic intelligence: Manage strategic analysis and intelligence, gathering insights to inform ENZ's direction and market responsiveness.Corporate services leadership: Ensure corporate services such as finance, people, safety, and governance deliver organisational success.Government relations: Provide strategic advice to government stakeholders, including the Board and the Chief Executive.Team Leadership: Lead a high-performing team of up to seven direct reports, ensuring alignment, engagement, and continuous improvement across ENZ. What we are looking for
We seek a candidate with a visionary mindset and a proven ability to shape and drive organisational strategy. This individual will bring a strong focus on innovation and long-term planning, inspiring others to engage in the strategic process while maintaining a solid understanding of corporate finance.

With the ability to "speak finance" fluently, you will ensure alignment between financial objectives and strategic goals. Striking the perfect balance between strategic vision and financial priorities, the ideal candidate will excel at integrating these perspectives into actionable plans.

As a seasoned leader, you will guide a team of direct reports, fostering collaboration, driving accountability, and translating complex challenges into clear, achievable outcomes.
