Group Chief Executive Officer (Ceo)

Details of the offer

Pioneer Energy Group (PEG) is a leading renewable energy company in New Zealand, recognised for its innovation and commitment to sustainability. With a diversified portfolio across the hydro, wind, waste-to-energy, and thermal sectors, PEG manages energy assets and subsidiaries, including Pioneer Energy Renewables, Ecogas, and Pulse Energy.
Owned by Central Lakes Trust (CLT), the Group's mission is to 'create a better future through sustainable energy.' PEG funds CLT's commitment to community development.
Established in 1999, PEG has become a trusted energy partner for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, local councils, and large exporters, continually advancing New Zealand's renewable energy goals through the development of new generation schemes. PEG has a very material pipeline of investments at various stages of development which could see the doubling of its scale over the next 7-10 years.
PEG is looking for a new Group CEO to lead the group through their next phase of growth and innovation. The CEO will work closely with the independent Board of Directors to execute the long-term strategy, ensuring operational excellence and profitability, while fostering a culture of innovation, sustainability, and health & safety.
This is a critical role in advancing Pioneer's renewable energy initiatives, positioning the Group as a leader in the fast-evolving renewable energy sector. The Group CEO will be responsible for building and fostering stakeholder relationships with partners, shareholders, community, and iwi. This person will manage a growing portfolio of capital assets and programme delivery to execute on PEG's long-term strategy.
Key competencies for this role include:
Proven senior leadership experience within energy or adjacent capital-intensive sector, with an ability to manage diverse business units and subsidiaries.
Strong financial acumen, including hands-on P&L responsibility, capital raising, and large-scale investment project management. Knowledge of energy trading markets and financial models related to energy projects highly desirable.
An entrepreneurial deal maker, with a track record in seeing opportunities, and bringing partners together to achieve 1+1=3 outcomes.
Proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams, while building and maintaining a positive organisational culture and an ability to recognise and develop talent.
PEG has its head office in Alexandra and a distributed workforce across New Zealand. Preference is for a candidate who can be domiciled in the Otago region or commit to a regular commute. Kerridge & Partners is supporting Pioneer Energy Group on this appointment process. To apply for the role, please email a copy of your CV to [emailprotected] by Wednesday 20 November 2024.
