About the opportunity Undertake important economic analysis and modellingFacilitate regulatory processes and interfaces for major capex proposalsInform key investment and expenditure decision-makingYou'll be taking on an important role in our specialist Grid Investment Advisory team, which supports smart decision-making for the benefit of all New Zealanders now and into the future. The team interfaces and works with a range of other teams nationwide who collectively manage critical infrastructure assets in excess of $5.5B.
Supported by your own research, growing expertise, and knowledge, you'll work with big data that comes from a variety of market and internally sourced data outputs providing insights across areas such as:
Current and future electricity demandsEmerging new energy sourcesFuture pricing and transmission demandsAsset management and hydrology implications and impactsYou'll produce high-quality economic advice and documentation to support major investment and expenditure decision-making, as well as crafting Major Capex Proposals >$20M.
With coaching and mentoring, you'll complete economic and financial analysis and undertake research into investment costs and the feasibility of alternatives. Your work will contribute to the provision of thought and technical leadership across a variety of investment-related investigations.
About you You'll love working with smart people in support of critical decision making with far-reaching impacts! You'll have advanced quantitative economic analysis skills, regulatory compliance experience, and a well-developed ability to communicate analysis, including visually and in written report format.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate an Honours, Masters, or PhD level qualification in a quantitative field e.g., economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or physics, and you'll bring proven commercial economic analysis experience.
