About usThe National Leader's Office (NLO) supports the National Party Leader and National Party MPs, by providing communications services, research support, and general/financial management.We are a dynamic and forward-thinking political organisation, working closely with our MPs, and colleagues in the Prime Minister's Office and Ministerial Services.About the roleAs a Graphic Designer, you will provide a wide range of in-house digital design services to National Members of Parliament.Services include developing MP publicity material and managing the print production process as well as assembling video, graphics, audio and text into a finished product for social media platforms.A snapshot of some of your daily responsibilities include:Provide graphic design services for the National Party Leader and National MPsUndertake design work across multiple, and complex projects for print and digital collateral, ensuring work is of a high standard, in alignment with National's brand standards and audience appropriateResponsible for the overall design production from concept to end-product delivery, on time and within budgetManage print production, provide advice and manage the Publicity sign-off processEnsure design requests are completed to a high standard in a timely manner and ensure the client is keep informed of progressProvide brand guardianship for the National Party's Parliamentary publicityDevelop appropriate client management processes and suitable support materialManage design files so that they are easily accessible and the filing system is maintained Work closely with the Digital Manager and the digital team to develop new templates and ideas for digital contentProvide advice on social media and digital to the National Leader and National MPsQualifications/experience2-4 years of graphic design experience as a professional designer with a strong portfolio of previous workAbility to work under pressure, prioritise and manage conflicting deadlines across multiple projects which may include individual project coordinationHigh level of expertise in Adobe Creative Suite Software (in particular InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects)Ability to work autonomously with multiple clients on multiple projects with competing work demandsRecognised tertiary qualification in graphic designExperience with digital and social mediaPhotography/photo editing skillsExperience with working in an iMac environmentAn understanding of the political environmentWhy work for Parliamentary Service?We offer a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, an Eye and Hearing subsidy, and an annual well-being paymentYou will receive a Parliamentary Service induction to set you up to succeed, as well as ongoing learning, development and professional networking opportunitiesWe are proud of our He Ao Takitaki (Te Ao Maori strategy); we offer karakia, waiata, reo Maori opportunities and other staff networksOur core values are at the heart of how we work: Integrity, Manaakitanga, Accountability, Whanaungatanga and EmpowermentThe pay band for the role starts at $70,000 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience.Employees are employed on an 'events based' agreement, with your employment linked to the Leader of the National Party.This role is based at the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington, for 40 hours per week.If you want to work in a role and environment unlike any other: one that is hugely rewarding and exciting with the chance to make a difference, please apply now.
