What's the opportunity?There is a unique opportunity available for a Head Chef to become part of the Flight Coffee family at our flagship Café, The Hangar (119 Dixon St, Wellington). The Head Chef oversees all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and BOH team. We are on the hunt for a great leader who can think outside the box and take our current food offering to the next level. This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 35 hours plus reasonable overtime to meet operational requirements with a maximum of 45 hours. The role will commence on the 1st September 2024.Key aspects of the role:Operations - Kitchen and food preparation, offering the highest standard of service and presentation:Leadership & Development of BOH Team - Provide clear development plans for each kitchen team employee where applicable, promoting retention and employee growth:People Management - Write BOH rosters and shift planning according to forecast sales, budget and in line with industrial relations requirements, enthusiastically participate in all people management activities:Product Development & Rollout - Develop fully costed seasonal and leading product offerings, menu development and updates, upon approval execute menu including writing recipes, menu inserts and staff training of preparation:Cost Control – Effective management of all P&L areas: COGS, Cost of Employment and OPEX.You are reliable and bring with you strong leadership, a hard-working attitude, and impeccable attention to detail. You will have an authentic passion for The Hangar, our people, and our product, showcasing the very best coffee and hospitality experience to our customers. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and have a results-driven attitude as well as demonstrating:Prior experience as a Head Chef or at least two years' experience as a Sous Chef, working in a similar role in complex and fast-paced environments:Relevant diploma/qualification from Culinary School.Proven track record to lead a team, to prep, cook, and plate food to an industry leading standard:Creativity - ability to suggest, plan and implement changes to take our current food offering to the next level:Genuine and great customer service - we have an open kitchen, so this is essential:Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable but not essential for the right candidate:Unlimited work rights.In return, you'll work for one of the most exciting coffee roasters in the country.
