Governance Coordinator

Selwyn District Council has a unique opportunity for a Governance Coordinator. This role does not come along very often!
As the Governance Coordinator, you will be supporting our Senior Governance Advisor to ensure all Council, Committees, Subcommittee, and Community Board meetings are scheduled, agendas are ready, rooms and catering are booked, and minutes are captured. You will also provide general administration support and reporting as required. This is a highly regulated and process-driven environment.
Other tasks may include:
Updating databases and organising filing systemsArranging livestreaming and recordings of meetingsTracking and following up on meeting actionsSupport during Representation Review and local government electionsAbout you: With proven administration experience, you will have effective organisation, time management, and coordination skills, along with excellent communication including writing and editing.
You will also have:
A minimum of 3 years' experience in local government or a similar environment.An understanding of Local Government and political processes.Experience working with elected members, board members, and the executive team.Experience working with and handling sensitive and confidential information.The ability to follow conversations and take minutes and actions.A high level of digital literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint).Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation including Local Government Act 2002 and LGOIMA.Knowledge of Tikanga and Te Reo.What we can offer: Great work-life balance with flexibilityCareer coaching and developmentLife insuranceWellbeing and volunteer leaveThree days paid leave between Christmas and New YearTwo weeks paid Partners LeaveSick leave from day oneDiscounts with local and national businessesAbout us: Selwyn is one of the fastest-growing districts in New Zealand.
