Job Description The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and driven GES Delivery Lead to oversee and enhance the delivery of our Group Employment Scheme. This role will collaborate closely with field teams and internal stakeholders to recruit and nurture quality apprentices, equipping them with the skills needed to become industry leaders. You will also ensure that host companies benefit from a diverse pool of apprentices who contribute exceptional labour to meet market demand. Your leadership will drive successful implementation of the GES programme, support student achievement, and contribute to the overall success of our Specialist Trades offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Delivery : Oversee the national delivery of the electrical Group Employment Scheme programme, ensuring it meets quality standards. Refine the induction process to enhance apprentices' training experiences while leveraging the pretrade programme as a feeder for new apprentices.
Strategic Development & Expansion : Develop and implement a quality recruitment strategy for apprentices and host companies, focusing on market growth. Identify new opportunities in sectors like solar and security to broaden the GES's impact.
Operational Oversight : Elevate the service delivery model of the GES to improve profitability, while implementing strategies to minimise downtime for apprentices. Effectively manage the downtime and placement programme to maximise productivity.
Performance Tracking & Reporting : Track and report on apprentice achievements and programme metrics, using data to inform strategic decisions. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the GES and conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration : Engage with field teams, host companies, and industry stakeholders to align the programme with market needs. Represent the organisation at industry events, advocating for high-quality training in plumbing and electrical sectors.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement : Monitor programme delivery quality through regular evaluations, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with internal teams to enhance recruitment processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives across campuses.
Desired Skills and Experience What you'll bring
Educational Background : Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Business Management, Education, or Trade Management).
Workforce Development Experience : Proven background in strategic apprenticeship programmes within trades like electrical or plumbing.
Leadership & Management : Experience in leadership roles, ideally with national programme oversight.
Employment Law Knowledge : Understanding of New Zealand employment law related to apprenticeships and health and safety.
Industry Insight : Experience in the electrical industry is beneficial.
Project Management Certification : Qualifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) are a plus.
Team Management Skills : Strong leadership in managing cross-functional teams and mentoring staff.
Stakeholder Engagement : Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and adapt strategies based on feedback.
Analytical & Financial Acumen : Proficient in tracking KPIs, managing finances, and driving productivity.
Organisational Skills : Excellent skills in managing national programme delivery and complex projects.
Advocacy : Knowledge of the electrical trade sector and experience in promoting quality training.
Continuous Improvement Focus : Proactive in leading initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
