Mo te turanga – About the role
We are looking for a General Surgeon to join our highly skilled team in a permanent, part-time position with a 1 in 6 call roster. This critical position will see successful candidates working within a tight-knit team of 6.5 SMO's, supported by a strong team including 4 Registrars.
Our hospital is a well-resourced centre, proud of its comprehensive range of services including spiral CT, 1.5T MRI, Resuscitation bay, Acute Assessment Unit, Critical Care Unit, Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation Ward/Acute Stroke Unit, Medical ward, Surgical Ward, Children's ward, maternity unit, acute mental health ward (adult), operating theatres, ambulatory clinics, community based clinics that support the people of Whanganui in their health journey.
You will have your own schedule, regular operating, scope lists, clinic and be part of the consultant on call roster.

Mou ake – About you
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and abilities:
Completed your residency/ registrar training in General Surgery
Eligible to hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of NZ in General Surgery
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively interact with a diverse range of patients and staff
Strong teamwork skills will enable you to work effectively with your team and other departments
