General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)Leadership/Equity pathway – North Island location flexibleAs an established heavy civil engineering business, this group undertakes projects across New Zealand and the Pacific in the $10M-$20M range, for customers across government, local authority and private clients, from design to project management and in multiple stages. They have a strong set of values around great outcomes for their clients while developing their people and whanau to achieve their very best in life, with strong guidelines around managing workloads, further education and personal progression in and outside work.Many projects have increasing importance in addressing issues around water flow and weather events, and they have a track record in clever design and strong project management to achieve outcomes in challenging environments, currently across New Zealand and parts of the Pacific. The current pipeline of work is very strong and their expertise in environmental issue mitigation/adaptation gives them a long runway of future opportunities. They have invested a significant amount in capital equipment and people to ensure they can effectively deliver these current and future projects with the minimum of outside costs.The new role will work closely with the CEO in leading the operations function, with a strong people and culture leadership function, building relationships across the team and with key customers, while adding the right mix of management disciplines to the business to support great delivery and growth.The right person will likely be working at a senior level in a New Zealand based heavy civil engineering business, with broad based experience in heavy civil engineering – Concrete Structures, Pipe works, Earthworks and temporary works. They will have current leadership experience, are motivated by the potential for equity and able to be located probably in Auckland or Bay of Plenty (although this is flexible).They will be at a career stage where offshore career options are less appealing but still have plenty of career 'runway' to add energy, ideas and capability to a great business with good governance and culture. The ability to inspire others with sound people leadership capabilities, management disciplines and a strong quality orientation will enable a path to a wider leadership of the group in the medium term.
