The General Manager will align with these values and be responsible for overseeing all activities delivered by Sharks Basketball, working alongside contracted roles and our incredible volunteers to deliver annual campaigns that entertain and inspire our fans and stakeholders to be part of the game.
Reporting directly to the Sharks Basketball Board, the General Manager will engage with the New Zealand National Basketball League and its national partners, along with the organisation's stakeholders.
The role will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organisation and work alongside the Sharks' Head Coach and other contracted roles to ensure the organisation operates in a manner which delivers a high performing NBL squad both on and off the court and delivers the best entertainment spectacle in the region.
The General Manager will be responsible for all logistics regarding the successful delivery of the season including meeting all League requirements regarding the compliant recruitment of a playing roster (as directed by the Head Coach) including ensuring all licensing, transfers and contract provisions are met in a timely manner.
The General Manager will work with current community funders and sponsors and identify and establish commercial partnerships with new sponsors and partners.
The role will also assist with the development and execution of marketing campaigns that promote the Southland Sharks, the New Zealand NBL and stakeholders for commercial benefit, develop new revenue initiatives and manage the club's commercial relationships, ensuring the Sharks continue to be one of the most loved brands with our local community.
