The Society is paving the way for innovative and forward thinking in the rural sector and is actively contributing to the positive economic development of the Hawke's Bay region.The A&P Society is seeking to appoint a new General Manager.
The General Manager role will focus on implementing and delivering on the Society's newly developed strategy, which is geared to develop greater engagement and provide a materially positive impact to the Hawke's Bay community as a whole, specifically incorporating the Society's loyal members, its longstanding event stakeholders, and the interests of the food and fibre sector.
This will be achieved through well prepared and competent planning and successful implementation of cost-effective business plans.
Key responsibilities will include:Continued strategic planning development in conjunction with the BoardMarketing and commercial developmentFinancial stewardship of the not-for-profit organisationDevelopment of events strategy for the three flagship Society events Leadership and HR ManagementRelationship management of the Society's many sponsors and stakeholders Development of new opportunities and initiatives that deliver on the Society's strategic objectivesThe ideal candidate will possess prior working experience or exposure within the not-for-profit or membership-based environment or display capability to understand such industries.
Prior working experience in a general, operations or logistical management space - event management or sales & marketing exposure would be a significant benefit as it is critical to the successful delivery of the role.
Evidence of stakeholder management would be seen as equally beneficial.You will also demonstrate excellent decision-making and communication skills, display strong commercial acumen coupled with robust planning and organisational skills and leadership ability.
Prior experience or knowledge of the agricultural sector is helpful but not essential.The A&P Society strives to advance the primary sector, promote growth, celebrate excellence, provide educational opportunities, and to honour the heritage and continue the legacy of their foundation members.
