It is open to many different faiths and groups for Retreats, Days of Prayer, Conferences, and Workshops.The General Manager at St Francis Retreat Centre will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of the Retreat Centre, ensuring that all aspects of the centre's mission, operations, and financial management align with its values and objectives. This dynamic position requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a deep commitment to the Franciscan tradition of service and spiritual growth.The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management of venue operations, including bookings, catering, and housekeeping, while maintaining the facility and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role will also involve the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote the Retreat Centre's offerings and community engagement initiatives.In addition, the General Manager will oversee the Finance & HR functions, ensuring financial transparency and compliance, collaborating with external accountants/auditors, and managing key human resources functions such as recruitment, staff development, and payroll.A critical component of the General Manager's role will be the development of strategies for evangelisation and spiritual education. The individual will be responsible for fostering relationships with local parishes, schools, and faith-based organisations, promoting Franciscan spirituality, and coordinating spiritual retreats and direction offerings.This position requires an individual with strong staff management skills, proven leadership experience, and a passion for Franciscan spirituality and evangelisation. The General Manager will work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure the continued success and impact of the Retreat Centre.Key Responsibilities:Operations Management:Oversee all aspects of venue management, including bookings, catering, and housekeeping, ensuring a high-quality guest experience.Manage the maintenance and development of the building and grounds, including regular inspections, compliance with safety regulations, and the promotion of sustainable practices.Lead marketing efforts to promote the Retreat Centre's offerings and events, including the development of promotional strategies and community engagement initiatives.Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a positive, inclusive work environment that aligns with the Centre's mission and values.Actively maintain and nurture a collaborative culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and a shared commitment to service excellence.Finance & HR Oversight:Supervise financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and promoting transparency in financial reporting.Collaborate with external accountants for tax preparation and filings, and oversee the annual audit process.Manage human resources functions, including recruitment, staff development, bookkeeping, and payroll processing, with the potential to outsource to enhance efficiency.Mission Development:Create and implement strategies for evangelisation and spiritual education, building relationships with local parishes, schools, and faith-based organisations.Promote Franciscan spirituality through workshops, retreats, and community events, creating educational resources and hosting sessions that share the Franciscan tradition.Coordinate retreats and spiritual direction offerings in collaboration with spiritual directors, fostering meaningful experiences for participants.
