If you are innovative with a can-do attitude, adventurous, and open to being challenged, then this might be the opportunity for you!What you'll be doing - Te whakamahereThe General Counsel leads the provision of strategic and in-house corporate legal advice across a broad range of issues, such as:Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.Advising on NZTE's grant funding programme.Managing higher risk legal issues.Advising on legislative compliance issues.Reviewing and drafting NZTE Board papers.Reviewing and negotiating residential and commercial leases for NZTE's NZ and international offices.As the leader of our in-house Legal team, you will be the "go-to" person for NZTE's legal issues. You will inspire and coach your small team of 1 – 2 direct reports, providing challenging tasks and actively developing individuals.What you'll need to be successful - O PukengaThe role is best suited to a lawyer with at least 8 years PQE, but we will consider applicants with more than six years' applicable legal experience. Ideally, your prior experience will be in a public sector legal team, commercial or public law team in a private law firm, or as an in-house commercial lawyer in a private sector entity.You will have outstanding interpersonal and people leadership skills, with the drive to mentor and motivate your small high-performing team while developing and maintaining strong relationships across the organisation.Why you'll love working here - Nau mai ki Te Taurapa TuhonoNZTE is a truly global organisation where we work across different time zones and offer flexibility.
