Details of the offer

Consultant Gastroenterologist 1.0 FTE Permanent, or Fixed Term 1 year Positions Available We have a fantastic opportunity for a Consultant Gastroenterologist position that is affiliated with the University of Otago. Although our Gastroenterology service welcomes applications for the position starting as soon as possible, there is also room for flexibility with us to negotiate the length of employment with successful applicant. About the Service Te Whatu Ora – Southern offers a comprehensive range of Gastroenterology services in both of our main hospitals, located in Dunedin and Invercargill, as well as outpatient clinics in other areas of the district. Although this role is based in Southland, consideration would be given to a candidate who wishes to be based in Dunedin; however, this would still require travel to Invercargill. Dunedin is a vibrant University town and a great place to live and work. The Hospital has 350 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 180,000. Invercargill has 180 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 100,000. Invercargill is situated at the base of the South Island and the people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality, there is space in abundance, and you are surrounded by national parks. The two main hospitals provide care for the population of the whole of the lower South Island. In this role, you will participate in a 1:4 on-call roster and provide a full range of Gastroenterology services alongside an enthusiastic group of colleagues. Planning is currently underway to re-develop facilities and expand the department so there will be opportunities to contribute to this development. There are also unlimited possibilities for laboratory and clinical based research and there is plenty of scope for collaboration with like-minded researchers. To be successful in this role, you'll need to have enthusiasm for teaching and be a team player with a commitment to improving and developing service delivery quality. About You Appointed specialists will possess FRACP or an equivalent qualification. Trainees within a few months of completing training are welcome to express an interest. ERCP experience is desirable, but not essential. If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply online and attach an up to date copy of your CV for consideration.
