RocketWerkz is an ambitious video games studio based on Auckland's waterfront in New Zealand. Founded by Dean Hall, creator of hit survival game DayZ, we are independently-run but have the backing of one of the world's largest games companies. Our two major games currently out on Steam are open-world simulation and survival games Icarus and Stationeers, and we have multiple secret projects in development.
We are looking for experienced C# Programmers to work on various PC games. While other projects at the studio use Unity or Unreal Engine, for this project we have developed our own in-house approach to making games. The BRUTAL framework allows programmers to focus on gameplay and game systems in C#, while accessing a suite of custom C++ libraries for scale, performance, and control without the constraints of a game engine.
In this role you will:
Rapidly prototype game systems and gameplay in C#Continuously adapt code in response to gameplay and designer feedbackContinuously test, debug and profile code to polish the game experienceDefine requirements for game systems and plugins and write technical documentationUnderstand the desired gameplay experience and contribute to the project as a wholeWork closely with the project lead, game designers, and the enterprise tools teamUse JetBrains and GithubWhat we look for in our ideal candidate:
At least 4 years of software development or games industry experienceExtensive experience in C# game developmentFamiliarity with C++Experience in working collaboratively within a programming teamA tertiary qualification (Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar) or equivalent industry experienceThe position is full-time, permanent, and based in Auckland with flexible working conditions.
