The Funding, Investment and Markets (FIM) team is one of the functions of the New Zealand Debt Management Directorate at the Treasury. The FIM team is responsible for managing the Crown's funding strategy and borrowing requirements, liquidity portfolios, and overall management of the core Crown's financial markets risk including providing corporate treasury services to government departments. Korero mo te turanga | About the role As Strategist you will work as part of our high performing team to: Develop, monitor, and communicate the debt funding strategy, Help develop and execute the investor engagement strategy, Support the sovereign credit rating through engagement with key credit rating agencies. This role will involve helping to ensure the debt funding strategy balances the needs of the Crown and investors, while promoting a well-functioning market. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in advice and communications regarding major portfolio transactions and research into longer-term issues that affect sovereign debt markets. You will be intellectually curious, motivated, and able to think strategically while also having an eye for detail. In addition, this role will suit candidates who have: An academic qualification in economics, finance or mathematics, Professional financial markets experience (preferably), Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills, Well-developed oral and written communication skills, The highest level of personal responsibility and ethics, Strong relationship management and influencing skills.
