Event Management (Marketing & Communications)Full timeThe Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust owns and operates the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre – an international quality, marine-based multi-sport facility on the water's edge of the Waitemata Harbour in Okahu Bay, Auckland.The Centre is home to the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, in-house restaurant Akarana Eatery, and an Event Centre consisting of multiple meeting and function spaces capable of hosting more than 500 guests as well as over 800m2 of boardrooms, training, and educational areas.We host events ranging from conferences, awards evenings, short lunch meetings, team building afternoons on the water, private celebrations, formal weddings, funerals, and more.About the opportunity:We have a fantastic opportunity for a person to join our team in this exciting and varied role. No two days are the same!We're looking for someone to start in February 2025 in this permanent role, working a minimum of 30 hours a week, although this is likely to be more. Given the nature of events, there will be some early mornings, evenings, and weekend work.The Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Duty Manager for functions and eventsManage service delivery of food and beverages and the setup and pack down of eventsInstruct and manage FOH staff at eventsEnsuring all event spaces, including onsite equipment, are maintained and kept tidy when not in useWhat you will bring:Proactive, friendly, and energetic team player with a solid work ethic and strong customer service skillsAbility to work autonomously with great attention to detail and stylingAbility to work to deadlines and manage priorities through good decision makingGood written and verbal communication skillsPrior experience within the events industry and managing a team of suppliers & casual staff preferableLCQ is a must, and Duty Manager license is a plusKnowledge of Ivvy, ResDiary, and Xero would be advantageousApplicants for this position MUST have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.What's in it for you:Great working environment with a fantastic team and some of the best views in AucklandThe diversity and breadth of our functions and clientele allows for personal skills development and high level of job satisfactionFree onsite parkingStaff discounts at the Akarana Eatery and free coffeeTraining and personal development support
