We are currently seeking a Front of House Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will lead and oversee the front-of-house staff and manage daily operations, working closely under the guidance of the Restaurant Manager to uphold our high standards of service and hospitality.

· Located in Christchurch CBD: 119 Worcester Street, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch 8011
· Permanent full-time position
· Hourly rate ranging from $30-$33 depending on prior experience
· Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours roster per week, with an average of approximately 33 hours (under 40 hours a week most of the time). However, during busy seasons, including occasional overtime, total weekly hours might reach up to 45 hours.
· Usually 5 days a week but in the busiest time, potentially 6 days a week
· You must be available to work at weekends and public holidays as required by the owner.
Job description
Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of approximately seven FOH staff, ensuring efficient coordination and prompt service delivery.
Engage with customers proactively to ensure they are well taken care of, fostering satisfaction and encouraging repeat visits.
Address customer complaints and resolve minor issues directly, escalating serious matters to the Restaurant Manager or Owner as needed.
Provide thorough initial and ongoing training to FOH staff.
Oversee FOH inventory management, including beverages and other non-kitchen stock.
Manage and respond to reservations received via phone or email, ensuring prompt and professional communication.
Oversee opening and closing duties, including bar setup, table arrangements, and till management.
Any other lawful and reasonable duties the owner or Restaurant Manager reasonably require.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required, including at least one year in a Japanese restaurant or a similar establishment deemed relevant by the employer. (Please note that experience in Japanese takeaway shops, fast-food outlets, or in-flight meal services is excluded from consideration.)
A current Licence Controller Qualification.
Genuinely interested in the Japanese cuisine.
Must be a team player, able to work harmoniously in a multicultural environment.
Capable of thriving under pressure and maintaining a high standard of performance.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Availability to work on weekdays and public holidays, as required by the owner.
Integrity and honesty at all times.
Strong attention to detail.
