Encounter Kaikoura is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced hospitality professional to bring their energy and expertise to our café.

About us: Situated in Kaikoura, where the mountains meet the sea, our vibrant operating hub is dedicated to exceptional customer experience.
Our café connects with our meeting venue, retail store, and ocean tour operations.
A popular spot for both locals and tourists facing the beautiful Pacific Ocean; there are stunning views from the building and courtyard, and even from the pass, the till and the coffee machine!
The role: Ensuring great customer service and attention to detail, at point of sale, running orders and clearing and maintaining our space.Efficient opening and closing, including cash handling and cleaning.Working flexibly across the team covering all FOH responsibilities and contributing to smooth daily operations. We're looking for someone who: Has experience in a similar environment, particularly working with volume and at pace.Takes pride in their experience, skills, and work ethic.Is kind, warm, and friendly, with a knack for excellent customer service.Is a great communicator, who enjoys working as part of a team.Previous barista experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment would be great but is not essential.
We are open 7 days 7.30am-4.00pm and our rosters include weekend working.
Shifts are flexible and vary to meet seasonality and business demand.
Applicants for this position should be able to legally work in NZ.
With an immediate start, this is ideally a permanent position.
We would also welcome applications for fixed term positions until May 2025.
We are not able to consider applicants available for less than 5 months at this stage.
