Encounter Kaikoura is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced barista to bring their energy and expertise to our café.
About you: Someone who loves working in hospitality, makes great coffee, works well with a team, and is effortlessly welcoming!
About us: Situated in Kaikoura, where the mountains meet the sea, our vibrant operating hub is dedicated to exceptional customer experience. Our café connects with our meeting venue, retail store, and ocean tour operations. A popular spot for both locals and tourists facing the beautiful Pacific Ocean; there are stunning views from the building and courtyard, and even from the coffee machine!
The role: A central position in our service-oriented team responsible for:

consistently creating and serving well-balanced quality coffee to happy customers
contributing to and ensuring smooth daily operations, and efficient opening and closing
working flexibly across the team covering all FOH responsibilities
supporting the management of group and meeting bookings and their execution
supporting stock management and ordering
covering for our FOH Team Leaders when required to ensure everything stays on track

We're looking for someone who:

takes pride in their skills, and has a few years of solid barista experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
is ideally familiar with La Marzocco, knows their way around coffee, and has a passion for both sharing their expertise with others, and continuing their own professional development
is kind, warm and friendly, with a knack for excellent customer service
has experience supervising, training and inspiring others
is a great communicator, who enjoys working as part of a team and leading by example

We are open 7 days 7.30am-4.00pm and our rosters include weekend working. Shifts are flexible and vary to meet seasonality and business demand.
Applicants for this position should be able to legally work in NZ.
