About Tuhuratanga and Turanga | Mo Tuhuratanga me Turanga Turanga is Christchurch's award-winning central library, located in the heart of our city. The library has received many accolades for its architectural design and cultural narrative as well as the range and quality of services it provides. The Tuhuratanga | Discovery Floor is an information rich floor combining an extensive non-fiction collection with spaces for learning, connection and discovery. A separate Quiet Place provides a space for concentration, study, or time out from the buzz and activity of other areas of the library. Our team of Librarians and Library Assistants are highly skilled in assisting customers with reference and reader advisory enquiries and we deliver a diverse and innovative range of programmes and events which engage the community. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As a member of our Turanga Leadership Team, this role takes responsibility for: Supporting the Team Leader in the operational delivery of services and managing the day to day running of the Tuhuratanga Floor, including coordinating team scheduling Ensuring staff are empowered to make good decisions, adapt to a variety of daily customer needs, and offer a welcoming service Managing, training and coaching a group of Library Assistants who report directly to the Floor Leader Supporting the team to deliver regular public programmes Working collaboratively with other Team Leaders and Floor Leaders to ensure the smooth and cohesive running of Turanga Collaborating with staff across the library network, the Council and further afield on projects and innovations About you | Ko Koe Tenei Our ideal applicant will be an enthusiastic, conscientious, practical and highly organised library professional.
