We are looking for a Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the efficient and safe operation of our workshop and fleet.
If you have strong experience in fleet and equipment management we want to hear from you!The Fleet Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our workshop, overseeing fleet maintenance schedules, optimising vehicle and equipment usage, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
This role will play a key part in ensuring the continued efficiency and performance of our fleet and equipment.Responsibilities:Manage daily workshop operations, assign tasks to mechanics, and maintain a safe, efficient workspace.Streamline workshop procedures to reduce waste and improve efficiency in repairs and servicing.Oversee the implementation of maintenance schedules for vehicles, plant, and equipment.Schedule and manage regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational readiness and prevent breakdowns.Oversee day-to-day fleet operations, including vehicle assignments and route optimisation to reduce costs.Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements regarding vehicle usage and mileage.Schedule maintenance for construction machinery (e.g., asphalt pavers, rollers) and manage spare parts inventory.Identify skill gaps within the team, provide training, and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.Conduct inspections to ensure maintenance quality and track KPIs such as repair turnaround time and equipment downtime.Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly to minimise delays and develop contingency plans for equipment shortages.Must Have:Fully qualified automotive technician / NZQA Level 4 National Certificate in Automotive Engineering (or equivalent)5-10 years of hands-on industry experience in fleet and equipment management.At least 5 years of management experience.Class 4 Licence.Good to Have:Class 5 LicenceClear communication skills and hands-on leadership experience.A strong track record of managing maintenance schedules and optimising fleet operations.Experience managing a workshop and mechanics.Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?How many years' experience do you have as a Fleet Maintenance Manager?Do you have experience performing automotive vehicle services?What's your expected annual base salary?How much notice are you required to give your current employer?Are you willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check?Do you have a heavy vehicle driver's licence?How many years' experience do you have as a Heavy Vehicle Automotive Electrician?
