Enphase is also one of the fastest growing and innovative clean energy companies in the world, with approximately 68 million products installed across more than 145 countries.We are building teams that are designing, developing, and manufacturing next-generation energy technologies and our work environment is fast-paced, fun and full of exciting new projects.If you are passionate about advancing a more sustainable future, this is the perfect time to join Enphase!Enphase is seeking a highly effective and driven Firmware Engineering Manager to join our high-performing team based at our Research and Development Center located in Middleton, ChristchurchYou will be working in a team of engineers who are tasked to design, enhance and test new system components to maximise the effectiveness of our energy harvesting, energy storage and energy management product range.About the role:Lead the development and integration of firmware for system components within a growing ecosystemEnsure all components meet strict industry standards and regulatory requirementsDesign and implement reliable, high-performing firmware solutionsDevelop and maintain communication protocols between system componentsCollaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integrationConduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineersTroubleshoot and resolve complex firmware issuesOptimize firmware for performance, memory usage, and power consumptionDevelop and execute test plans to ensure firmware quality and reliabilityRemain up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in embedded systemsDocument firmware design, development processes, and best practicesManage project timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completionParticipate in system architecture design and contribute to technical roadmapsEnsure security and robustness of firmware against potential threatsFoster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the teamWhat you bring:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field 12+ years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems.Proven experience leading firmware projects and teams, including capturing and documenting requirementsStrong proficiency in C/C++ programming languagesIn-depth knowledge of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and embedded operating systemsExperience with communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C and CANFamiliarity with hardware design and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, etc.)Understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and their application in embedded systemsExperience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelinesStrong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issuesExcellent documentation and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environmentExperience in developing high-reliability code and testsWhat would make you stand out?Proven performance in a similar role, in a Research and Development environmentExperience with power electronics systems Experience with 32-bit ARM processors and 8-bit 8051 processors Experience with UL1998, UL1741, IEEE1547 and other standardsFamiliarity with automated test scripts/setups using Python Employee Benefits: Restricted stock units in offer Bonus plan Wellbeing and insurance benefits for you and your familyAnnual performance reviews Opportunities for career growth and developmentWorking in a well-equipped laboratory and facilityVisa Requirements:Enphase Energy NZ is currently only considering candidates for this role with New Zealand permanent residency or citizenship.
