About the role: As our Financial Support Officer - Rates , you will play a crucial role in our Finance and Corporate Support team, ensuring effective credit and debt collection while providing administrative support related to rates. This position is pivotal in maintaining our financial integrity and ensuring our community receives the services it deserves. Your key responsibilities: Manage day-to-day arrears collection for rates and other council debts, ensuring timely and professional communication with customers. Process rate rebate applications, represent the Council at appointments, and manage documentation with precision. Oversee the direct debit database, promote uptake, and address customer inquiries. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate processing of payments and support the production of financial reports. What You'll Bring: A strong background in credit control (minimum 2 years) and customer service. Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, and database management skills. An understanding of local government rating systems is highly desirable. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to handle challenging interactions with poise and professionalism.
