The Company My client is the NZ subsidiary of an Australian listed entity. The business is circa $50-55M and operates in the industrial manufacturing sector. This company has two distinct operating entities; with two plants based in Auckland. Led by a great GM, the SLT has come together in recent years and formed a great culture that has a family feel despite being a MNC. With support from the Australian teams, this NZ business still runs independently here in NZ and is a great opportunity for you to run the finance function here locally. The Role The Financial Controller role will report directly to the GM and be an integral member of the local SLT. Your role will be to support the GM to ensure the profitability of the business is optimised and strategic opportunities are developed and actioned. Integral in this role is the responsibility for the analysis, monitoring and reporting of key financial & operational indicators and ensuring the integrity of all financial data is maintained. Your key responsibilities will include: Optimise business profitability through analysis of margin, mix of product sales, expense analysis and NPDIdentify opportunities for profit improvement through detailed analysis aboveEnsure accurate factory costing and therefore pricing is maintainedRegular communication with operational staff to ensure operations are maximisedBudgeting & Forecasting (weekly)Business planningDevelopment of capital expenditure proposalsLiaise / negotiate specific agreements, tenders or quotes with suppliers in conjunction with the GMProvide useful and timely reporting on sales, labour and productivity of the factoriesEnsure stock is controlled and managed effectivelyEnsure job costing is accurate and reflects commerciality.Oversee financial stewardship, controls and business processes.Manage and develop a local finance team including procurement and inwards goodsOversee the annual Audit for the NZ business and liaise with the Corporate reporting team in Australia as requiredProvide accurate monthly reporting to both the local business and report to Australian financial teamPartner with the Australian team to ensure Statutory reporting requirements are metOther ad hoc tasks as required. Your profile: To be considered for this role, we are looking for a CA or equivalent qualified Accountant. You will be able to demonstrate a strong Commercial finance background with proven experience in the manufacturing industry. Additionally you will be able to demonstrate strong financial controls & stewardship background. It is essential you have proven manufacturing experience and can demonstrate the ability to understand operations, be hands on but also have the strategic thinking ability. You must understand how a business ticks in manufacturing and have strong influencing and wider business skills.
