We are on the look-out for a part-time Finance Manager to join our Finance team based at Commercial Bay. The part-time hours can be flexible depending on the right candidate, between 0.6 FTE to 0.8 FTE, with varying days around month-end.Our ideal candidate will be a finance and accounting professional, ideally with experience in a professional services environment (although this is not a necessity), who has an interest and ability to streamline and improve processes where necessary. You will be CA qualified (or equivalent) and be able to lead a small team of professionals, including an Assistant Accountant, two Finance Assistants, and an Audit Administrator.The primary objective of this role is to manage and coordinate the accounting function of the finance team on a day-to-day basis, while also serving as a partner to key stakeholders within the firm. To be successful in the role, you will need to bring a high level of attention to detail, the ability to drive the finance and accounting function as a high-performing team, and be a trusted partner to key stakeholders within the firm, including but not limited to, Directors and Partners.Key responsibilities:Manage month-end and year-end processes and reportingProvide regular support, advice, and recommendations to directors and firm partners on pricing, expense budget analysis, and forecastingManage the expense budget process and forecastingEnsure the balance sheet reconciliations are completed on a monthly basisManage the completion of the annual accountsManage the preparation and presentation of expense variance analysis, high-level P&L, debt, WIP, and lock-up commentary, observations, and financial forecasts in the Board report.Work closely with the CFO on the implementation of, and improvements to, accounting and financial reporting systems, policies, and processes.Skills and Experiences:Qualified Chartered Accountant (or equivalent)Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of relevant accounting standardsExperience in leading a small teamAdvanced Excel skills and ability to extract complex data from systems to carry out detailed financial analysisFamiliarity with SQL and VBAStrong client service focus and ability to build trusted relationshipsAbout us:MinterEllisonRuddWatts is a top-tier New Zealand law firm with a proud 130-year history.
