Reports to: Director – Finance, Planning and Resources

Reporting positions: Assistant Accountant – BSNZ Group Finance Assistant Receipting and Database Co-ordinator Finance and Project Support Works with: Internal: Chief Executive Officer Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee members (Governance) Manna Board Team Leaders External: Investment partners (Jarden) Business advisory services (Walker Wayland) Auditors Systems vendors and consultants Legal Advisors United Bible Societies representatives Purpose of the Job To support Bible Society New Zealand Group's mission by overseeing the financial management and reporting of Bible Society New Zealand (BSNZ) and Manna Christian Stores Ltd (Manna) (collectively BSNZ group), to ensure that funds and financial and material assets are secured and effectively used and that the BSNZ Group's short- and long-term financial health is maintained.

Representative Responsibilities and Outcomes Participate in strategic leadership: Participate collegially in BSNZ's Leadership Team. Contributions encourage cohesion and visionary planning. Provide expert advice to the Leadership Team on finance-related matters. The Leadership Team has reliable financial information on which to base strategic and operational decisions. Lead the finance function: Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the finance function. Finance function plans are integrated with and complement organisation-level strategic and operational plans. Oversee the proper and efficient running of the finance function and the provision of financial services to BSNZ and Manna. Finance and related administrative functions are accomplished to a high level of competence. Implement, monitor, and audit processes to maintain a complete record of all BSNZ Group assets, liabilities, income, expenditures, and inventory. Records are accurately and securely maintained. Prepare and maintain an insurance schedule and arrange and regularly review insurance policies covering BSNZ Group's personnel, assets and public liability risk. Meet Charities Commission and Companies Office obligations and file returns. Records are current, and BSNZ Group complies with its registration obligations. Remain current on job-related legislation and regulations and recommend compliance to the CEO. BSNZ Group remains compliant with legislation and regulation. Financial management and reporting: Prepare entity and consolidated financial statements following the Tier 2 financial reporting framework, including SSP reports. Statutory reporting obligations are met. Review and present regular and annual financial and statutory reports for the CEO, governance and external stakeholders as per schedule. Provide strategic and operational financial analysis to the CEO and the Team Leaders. They have current and reliable information for decision-making. Oversee annual external audits, including preparation for auditors and provision of information and documents as required. Manage financial risk including cash flow, investment, foreign exchange, and fraud risk. Manage the preparation of annual and project-specific financial budgets and SSP projections. Accumulate, analyse, and report financial performance information for Project Team Leaders as necessary. Advise and support Project Team Leaders in budget preparation, compliance and reporting. Monitor income and spending against budgets and intervene to manage material variances. Ensure processes are implemented and documented for the payment of all accounts payable, wages and salaries, and tax obligations. Ensure collection of overdue and defaulted debts is appropriately managed. Oversee donations receipting and constituent data management: Supervise and monitor the receiving and receipting of donations from mail and bank deposits. Supervise and monitor the capture, security, privacy and use of constituent data. Manage office support services: Ensure that HR practices and payroll services comply with regulatory requirements. Oversee cleaning and other contracts and requirements for office locations. Engage with external investment agencies. Leadership, management and development: Lead, manage, direct and motivate Finance team members. Model and ensure Finance team members comply with team and organisation standards, practices and policies. Work alongside reporting team members to set plans designed to achieve operations targets. Manage the performance of team members to achieve agreed outcomes. Identify and recommend learning and development opportunities for Finance team members. Create and sustain strong working partnerships with other team leaders. Participate in project teams and lead project teams where required. Competencies Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher with Finance or Accounting Major (Essential) Professional membership of a relevant professional association (Essential) Knowledge: Knows principles of Tier 2 financial accounting and preparation of consolidated financial statements (Essential) Knows principles of management accounting at a senior level (Essential) Knows principles of team leadership and development (Essential) Knows relevant accounting rules and standards (Essential) Knows contemporary ERP and POS accounting systems and processes (Desirable) Knows principles of funds management and return maximisation (Desirable) Skills: Able to lead and develop a team (Essential) Able to coach non-finance team members in use of financial information (Desirable) Able to plan effectively at strategic and operational levels (Essential) Able to implement, maintain, and manage treasury, ERP, POS, e-commerce, etc systems (Essential) Able to meet deadlines without compromising standards (Essential) Attitudes and Attributes: Committed to BSNZ Group's mission and ethos (Essential) Works collegially in a team (Essential) Shares ideas and provides assistance willingly (Essential) Hours and Place of Work Ordinary hours will be 37.5 hours per week to be worked between 8:00am and 5:00pm each Monday to Friday, unless otherwise agreed with the Director – Finance, Planning and Resources. Normal place of work is 6A Kellow Place, Wiri, Manukau City, Auckland.
