This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, savvy, forward-thinking financial professional to take ownership of the overall financial management reporting for The Racing Integrity Board (RIB). As the "go-to" financial expert, you will provide critical insights and advice to the Executive and Board, directly contributing to the organisation's overall effectiveness and efficiency.
In this newly created position, you'll play a pivotal part in bringing the finance function in-house, establishing robust and efficient financial systems and processes that will drive success for both you and the wider team.
About us The Racing Integrity Board (RIB) is the independent regulator for thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing in New Zealand. The RIB has the responsibility to promote and ensure compliance with high standards of animal welfare, integrity and professionalism by participants in the racing industry.
Established under the Racing Industry Act 2020, the RIB has a national presence working across the three racing codes. Our race day teams attend nearly one thousand race meetings across 59 tracks each year. We work to ensure racing is safe, fair and high standards of animal welfare are maintained.
About the Role Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Finance Manager is responsible for leading all financial functions for the Racing Integrity Board (RIB), providing financial leadership, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Your initial focus will be to review existing systems and processes, working collaboratively across the team to successfully bring the finance function in-house.
Key responsibilities include: Manage Financial processes, including budgets, forecasting, and preparing monthly accounts.Risk mitigation and management.Cash flow management.Payroll management.Providing accurate, timely financial advice to the CEO and Board.Overseeing financial technology and systems, driving continuous improvement across platforms.About you We're looking for a highly motivated finance professional with an inquiring mind and a strong drive to enhance financial effectiveness and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.At least 5 years of professional experience in a financial management role.Expertise in financial and management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.Proven experience in setting up, developing, and/or enhancing finance systems and processes.High proficiency in MS Excel, financial software, and payroll systems (RIB uses Xero and Smartly Payroll).While experience in the public sector is advantageous, we encourage all interested candidates to apply.
