Field Technician

Job Description Based at our Dunedin site we are currently seeking a full time Field Technician to join our Dunedin Laboratory on a permanent basis. The core functions of the role we have to fill are to assist with the collection of samples from customer sites, utilising your time efficiently to meet the sampling programme needs. You will be responsible for the collection and timely delivery of samples you collect and customer samples from a range of locations throughout the Dunedin and Clutha areas, able to work individually and adhere to the company's health and safety guidelines. Upon commencement of employment a training plan will be initiated for the Technician. This will include all basic sampling tasks appropriate for the work area. As the Technician develops and becomes more competent and familiar with the Basic Job Responsibilities described below they may be trained in more advanced areas of laboratory operations. Key duties may include: To plan and carry out the day's sampling programme to make the best use of time and to travel the least distance possible. To accurately record details relating to time, place and on site measurements. To receive and send samples without error, and within allowable time & temperature holding time requirements. To carry out any daily duties delegated from senior staff. To operate in accordance with the company's Quality and Procedures manuals and to not do anything which would jeopardise the company's various accreditations and reputation. To keep the vehicles and equipment in good physical condition at all times. To maintain a positive, professional and safe working environment, being mindful of the company's Health and Safety procedures. To be willing to work on continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Full clean New Zealand driver's licence (essential). Attention to detail, proficient computer skills are highly essential. A tertiary qualification in science is desirable but not limited to. A background in science or candidates with life experience will also be considered. Experience working within a fast paced commercial environment will be advantageous. Ability to adapt quickly to new tasks/extras workloads at short notice.
