We are seeking an individual to support operations and enhance our technical capabilities. The role of Farm, Process & Mechanical Technician offers an opportunity to apply your maintenance and mechanical skills while building your capability in horticultural farming and processing. You will support our Harvest and Post-Harvest Operations team (engineers/manager) with various responsibilities, including maintaining machinery to required standards, improving the productivity of farm equipment, tools, and facilities, operating machinery, and overseeing horticultural production.

The role will involve supporting continuous improvement projects and initiatives, with a focus on maintaining machines and equipment to ensure readiness for the demands of the upcoming harvest seasons.

Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical maintenance

Ensure maximum productivity by maintaining, repairing, and servicing farm mechanical machinery, equipment, tools, and facilities.

Assist in the inspection of machines, collect and analyze data, and assemble and install mechanical components to support Engineers.

Assist in assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and controls.

Effectively manage site plant, equipment, and assets, ensuring they are maintained to required standards, with the asset register kept up to date and regularly monitored.

Operate and maintain machinery used in horticultural production.

Ensure all machines and equipment are in good working condition and used safely.

Farm & Process

Feeding, grading, harvesting, and packing.

Monitoring the quality of produce and implementing measures to maintain high standards.

Keeping detailed records of planting schedules, crop yields, and other relevant data.

Reporting on production progress and any issues encountered.

Maintain quality standards and customer requirements.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Holding a Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or having three years of relevant experience in the mechanical field.

Previous farming experience of 6 months to 1 year in horticultural production, including tasks such as feeding, grading, harvesting, and packing in New Zealand, would make you highly qualified for the position.

Excellent work ethic and attention to detail.

Proactive, positive, and motivated to do your best.

Reliable, self-sufficient, drug-free, and takes pride in your work.

Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Flexible and willing to work overtime, outdoor shifts, and weekends when required.

Well-organised, good problem-solving skills, and calm under pressure.
