Family Support Coordinator

Family Support Coordinator
Company:

Childcancer

Details of the offer

About us Child Cancer Foundation is a New Zealand charity that provides support to children and families on their cancer journey.
We support them every step of the way, helping them overcome challenges and maintain control of their lives.
We focus on the whanau, not the cancer.
No two families' experiences are the same, and neither is the nature of the support they need.
Our vision is 'To walk alongside and support all children and their families on their cancer journey and advance improvements to child cancer care' .
We are guided by our values that help us deliver our vision.
Our values are: Tautiaki | Trust Each and every role is integral in what we do.
About the role Our team of Family Support Coordinators are at the heart of everything we do.
The purpose of this role is to provide one-to-one support to whanau throughout their journey with childhood cancer.
Reporting to the Northern Region Team Leader and working across the wider Auckland/Northland region, you will work closely with each family, identifying where they are coping well and where they need extra support.
All support, whether it be emotional, financial or other practical assistance, is based on helping families utilise their strengths and build resilience to continue with their lives.
You will facilitate and advocate for access to other agencies and methods of support in the community and work with our local volunteer Whanau Connect Group, health professionals, and other community groups to ensure the best outcomes for children with cancer and their families.
Please note this role is part-time, 32 hours per week, and may require travel within the Auckland/Northland region depending on case requirements.
What we provide Aside from working with a group of passionate and experienced people, we have flexible working hours and provide the option to work from home one day per week.
We acknowledge that sometimes this work isn't always easy, so we provide plenty of wrap-around support including professional supervision.
Where you are required to travel, we will cover all travel expenses.
Plus, we have just moved into a brand new office!
What we are looking for We are looking for someone who can work in partnership with our families and can build and maintain meaningful relationships based on trust, respect, and empathy.
You will operate with a flexible and agile approach, recognising that this is not your typical 9-5 job.
Along with this, we are also looking for someone who has: Exceptional listening and communication skills Sound knowledge of family development and family dynamics The ability to effectively work with a diverse range of stakeholders Initiative, creativity, and flexibility in dealing with complex issues Previous experience in either nursing, community health, social work, or a support role in a relevant field If you are keen to add value and make a difference, then please apply!
