Expression of Interest: Independent Representative - Three Waters Programme Steering Group Whakatane District Council Whakatane District Council owns, operates, and maintains three waters infrastructure including stormwater, wastewater, and municipal water supply, across the Whakatane District. A number of three water resource consents, issued under the Resource Management Act 1991, are nearing expiration, and require replacement. This includes replacing consents associated with four wastewater treatment plants and thirteen water take consents across various areas. From 1 July 2024, the Council commenced a three-year programme of work to replace these water and wastewater consents. An overarching Strategy has been developed and a supporting project team is currently being established. A Programme Steering Group has also been established consisting of Council elected representatives to provide a specialised forum to oversee and guide, at a programme level, the development and delivery of the Three Waters Consent Replacement Programme. Whakatane District Council invites expressions of interest from experienced professionals to join our newly formed Three Waters Consent Renewal Programme Steering Group as an Independent Representative. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic oversight of our three waters activities and help shape critical water infrastructure projects within the district.
