About the Role
We have an opportunity available to join our Te Manawa Taki regional team as a Public Health Communications Lead. This is a 3-month fixed term, full-time role and is an important role for the delivery of quality and effective public health engagement and communications for the NPHS regions.
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure communication strategies are aligned across the regions and be an interface for national communications. You will develop innovative and effective communications and public health marketing strategies, plans, resources, and tools to reach specific audiences.
This fixed-term period runs until 30 March 2025.
About the Team/Service/Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You are someone able to demonstrate mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present effectively, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes.
Skills and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, marketing public relations or media management.
At least three years communications experience in the health sector.
Proven expertise in handling technical and clinical information and the use of social media, and website platforms.
Experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government, and policy development, is preferable.
Full current New Zealand drivers licence.
Able and willing to travel as required.
Membership in relevant professional bodies.
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings desired.
