We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Estimator, experienced in Water main and Fire main construction works to join a well-established civil main contractor in South/East Auckland.
With history spanning over 20 years, their team has many years of experience in road rehabilitation, water main and fire main installation, and reinstatement work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist the company and its Management Team to accurately price, secure and execute civil contracts, specialising in Water main and Fire main construction works.Watermain renewals contract and projects – replacement of a full street of mains including connections and service leads, internal developments, greenfield sites and Infrastructure related projects.Firemains including Backflows, Building connections and testing to NZ Fire code requirements.Civil Projects, kerbing, asphalt, concrete, road construction and related reinstatement.Quantity Surveying.Visit sites, carry out measure ups and take photos for estimating purposes.Complete take-offs from plans and produce schedules for works.Understand drawings, schedules, basis of payments, service plans, specifications and have the ability to assess all of these for a tender. MUST HAVES:At least 2 years NZ experience within the same industry.Understand NZS3910 and its clauses.Understand pricing from first principles.NZ Fire Code and related pipe-laying and testing.Understand contracts, agreements, liability and tags.Have good math and accounting skills and understand formulas and Estimating Systems.Assist with developing estimating systems to speed up and have clarity on budgets vs actuals.Intermediate / Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel. RECOMMENDED:Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.Directional drilled vs open cut estimating.Superior communication and negotiation skills.Deliver high quality outcomes.Be self-motivated and driven by outcomes.Learn new skills, be flexible and adaptable.Work autonomously and as part of a team.Communicate proactively and collaboratively. The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment drug screening and be eligible to work in New Zealand either as a resident or by holding a current work visa (2 year minimum).
NOTE: ONLY CANDIDATES WITH PREVIOUS CIVIL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING EXPERIENCE IN NEW ZEALAND WILL BE CONSIDERED.
