Job Title: Equipment Maintenance Supervisor Location: Whitewater Ski Resort Department: Outdoor Operations Reports to: Outdoor Operations Manager Employment Status/Type: Year Round, Full-Time Compensation: $35-$38 (DOE) alongside further employee perks and benefits. JOB SYNOPSIS: The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor at Whitewater Ski Resort is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive maintenance program for the ski hill's heavy-duty fleet equipment. This includes four Prinoth snow cats, a skid steer, a loader, and an excavator. The supervisor will lead a team of heavy-duty mechanics, apprentice mechanics, and shop hands, ensuring that daily, weekly, and annual maintenance tasks are effectively completed. This role also involves managing the fleet's annual budget, ordering parts, and maintaining detailed maintenance records to ensure optimal operation and safety of all equipment. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and provide direction to a team of heavy-duty mechanics, apprentice mechanics, and shop hands, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss ongoing maintenance tasks, safety protocols, and operational updates. Provide mentorship and support to apprentice mechanics, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and development. Evaluate team performance regularly, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and identifying areas for improvement and additional training. Maintenance Scheduling and Implementation: Develop and manage a detailed maintenance schedule, ensuring all fleet equipment undergoes regular daily, weekly, and annual maintenance. Prioritize maintenance tasks based on equipment usage, wear and tear, and operational needs to ensure maximum uptime and reliability. Coordinate with other departments to minimize downtime and disruption to ski hill operations. Budget and Inventory Management: Oversee the annual maintenance budget, ensuring all expenditures are within approved limits and aligned with financial goals. Monitor and manage parts inventory, ensuring necessary parts are available when needed and maintaining accurate records of inventory levels. Source and order parts, negotiating with suppliers to secure the best terms and pricing. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Whitewater policies and WCB regulations, promoting a culture of safety and adherence to best practices. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, identifying and addressing potential hazards and ensuring all team members follow safety protocols. Implement and enforce safety training programs, ensuring all team members are knowledgeable about safety procedures and emergency protocols. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and maintenance schedules. Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, budget status, and team performance to senior management. Develop and update maintenance manuals, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency and adherence to industry standards. Operational: Perform or oversee necessary maintenance activities for all fleet equipment, ensuring they meet high professional standards. Supervise large-scale maintenance work, providing guidance and expertise. Operate equipment as required, demonstrating and reinforcing proper use and safety protocols. Assist in the training of equipment operators, promoting a strong safety culture and adherence to operating procedures. Ensure all work orders are completed accurately and timely, maintaining comprehensive maintenance logs. Promote Whitewater's safety culture, reviewing and amending departmental manuals and procedures as necessary. Embrace and promote Whitewater's mission statement and core values in all aspects of the job. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION: Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required. Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic – BC Trades Certification or Interprovincial Red Seal Trades Certification Required. Valid Driver's License required with clean drivers abstract required. Previous experience working in a shop required. Snow Cat mechanical experience is an asset. Equipment Operation experience an asset, especially Snow Cats. Experience working with Microsoft software an asset. Good working knowledge of the current WCB regulations is an asset. CAT-ET knowledge and understanding considered an asset. SKILLS & ABILITIES: Strong leadership, communication, management, administrative and personnel skills. Must be a team player and able to work well with others while maintaining a calm & positive attitude, sometimes during high stress. Good physical condition. Capable of performing manual labor, lifting up to 50 pounds, ability to lift heavy objects and frequently walking on uneven ground & comfortable. Working at heights. Ability to operate snow mobiles, heavy equipment, ATV's and 4×4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner. Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability is an asset. Ability to work outside for extended periods in adverse weather conditions. Must be willing to travel to the mountain and work weekends and holidays as required. Self-motivated, mature, dependable, timely and able to work well with others. Are proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer systems and applications. #J-18808-Ljbffr
