EOI - Corrections Officer - InvercargillAbout this roleCorrections Officers – Invercargill PrisonAre you interested in becoming a Corrections Officer at Invercargill Prison? We are currently at our resourcing capacity; however, we are accepting Expressions of Interest for opportunities in 2025.'My strength is not that of my own but that of many.'Corrections Officer, He Aapiha Whare Herehere.As a Corrections Officer, you will be working in a challenging environment supported by a team of experienced professional colleagues. You will engage with people in a positive way and will have the opportunity to not only change the lives of the people in Prison but also whanau by influencing change through your interactions. You will spend much of your time working within the unit(s) supervising the people in Prison with their daily routines, escorting them around the site to education programmes or other appointments. You will monitor, assess and manage behaviour and safety, help control, and lessen any conflict within the unit(s).If you have the following skills and attributes, you could make a great Corrections Officer:A positive mindsetAbility to engage with whanau, iwi and hapuMotivated to make a positive impact in your communityInspired by having the opportunity to change someone's lifeBe able to work rostered shifts across a 24/7 pattern including weekends and public holidaysExperience within a Kaupapa Maori or Pasifika environment, while not essential, is desirableTo be eligible you need:The right to work in New Zealand or the ability to apply for a valid work visaA full New Zealand Driver Licence (or eligible on a Restricted or International Licence)To declare any conflicts of interest and previous convictions. This role is exempt from Clean Slate and all conviction history is releasedThe ability to pass a drug testBe medically fit for employment and complete a Medical Assessment and Physical Readiness AssessmentLive within 100 km of Invercargill Prison or be prepared to move to meet this requirementThe starting salary for this position is $67,519 per annum.
