With more than 94,000 employees, we operate a network of more than 2,600 offices and laboratories around the world.Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Environmental Supervisor to join our team at SGS New Zealand in Westport, West Coast.This full-time role will be a hands-on role, analysing routine and non-routine environmental samples and ensuring accurate reporting. In addition, you will provide the close-knit team with support to achieve their full potential.What you'll be doingAssist with the management of analytical services and the technical aspects of the Westport laboratory including the LIMSAssist with maintaining ISO 17025 accreditationEnsure equipment is maintained in good working order and appropriately calibratedEnsure all client demands are met as detailed in the various service contractsManage an effective and efficient laboratory service at the lowest possible costEnsure reporting deadlines are metWork with the Laboratory Manager to maximise business returns whilst minimising exposure and risk for the companyCommunicate with the appropriate staff and external clients as requiredComply with all SGS OH&S and all HR policies and proceduresPrepare and analyse samples in accordance with the standard operating procedures in the laboratory to ensure a high service level is maintainedReport environmental data when requiredUndertake all other relevant and reasonable work requests relevant to the position in consultation with the Laboratory ManagerQualificationsA relevant tertiary qualification is an advantageAnalytical chemistry experienceOperational experience with IC analysis or related techniquesProven experience in a supervisory role including the ability and experience in management reporting and checking technical dataPrevious experience in a general laboratory environmentStrong communication and organisational skillsFully understand the quality requirements of a modern industrial laboratory including the LIMSProven interpersonal skills including the ability to supervise and manage resourcing and dealing with peopleFull New Zealand driving licenceAdditional InformationWorking at SGS means joining an innovative, global company.
