We process over 700 million litres of milk a year and produce a wide range of consumer and foodservice products, and dairy ingredients.The Role:We're looking for an Analytical Technologist to join our Hokitika based Quality team, working in our Analytical Science Lab and reporting directly to our Principal Scientist.Key Responsibilities will include:Coordinating method validation and transferThe efficient and accurate sampling, testing and recording of findingsMonitoring test results for compliance to specification and escalating non-complying resultsAssisting with the continual improvement of procedures, reporting and issue resolutionsSupporting the analytical scientist with the implementation of new methodsProviding support to the laboratory staff in training to maintain 17025 accreditationEnsuring the accurate calibration of test equipmentKey preferred attributes for the role include:A relevant tertiary qualification in Science (analytical chemistry etc)Experience and knowledge of analytical tests and techniques (e.g. HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS and ICP-MS)An understanding of ISO 17025, 14001, 22000, RMP is desirableKey Technical Person "KTP" status or the ability and desire to work to achieve KTP status within 12-24 months of obtaining the positionThe ability to interpret and action detailed methodsThe ability to diagnose and fix mechanical problems with testing equipmentGood Microsoft Office skills (across the suite) with excellent written and verbal communication abilityFlexibility and adaptability together with the ability to work under pressure and be responsive to organisational contingencies as they ariseThis is a fantastic opportunity to join Westland Milk Products and live and work on the beautiful West Coast.
