Job Description
Who are we looking for?
A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planner to join our small close knit team, working on a variety of projects across our quarry and concrete plant sites.
About the role:
This is a full time fixed-term maternity cover role starting in January 2025 until January 2026. The location of the role is Drury; however, there is some ability to work out of a central Auckland office 2-3 days of the week.
If you are an experienced Planner wanting to take the next step in your career or you already have the skill but are looking for a new challenge in this fast-growing quarry industry with plenty of variety and scope, this may be the right opportunity for you.
You will work closely alongside the Consents Manager to ensure that all current and future Stevenson quarries and concrete plants are operating with the appropriate consents. You will manage your own projects with support from the Consents Manager. This could include big projects – expanding a quarry, consenting a solar farm, groundwater consents, consenting a new concrete plant. Or it could include smaller projects – looking into whether a diesel tank needs consent, preparing a replacement air discharge consent for an existing site, expanding opening hours of a concrete plant.
Underpinning this is a company culture which seeks to protect the environment, make sustainable improvements, and promote staff ownership and empowerment.
What you will bring to this role:
We are looking for someone with:
At least five plus years professional experience in planning.
A bachelor's or master's degree in a Planning related field.
NZPI membership.
Excellent problem solving & decision-making skills.
A logical and clear thinker.
The ability to build meaningful relationships.
The ability to be articulate and accurate.
Strong communication skills for a diverse range of audiences.
Responsibilities of the role will include but not limited to:
Managing a team of consultants to prepare resource consent applications.
Working with the Stevenson team to obtain relevant information for applications.
Providing clear and concise consenting advice to the wider Stevenson team.
Ensuring that all new consents are embedded into the business by undertaking a handover process with operational staff.
Providing advice to operational staff to ensure consents are operating within the current consent conditions.
Undertaking iwi engagement as and when is necessary.
Liaising with the local community as required.
Keeping a broad overview of all new policy and legislative changes which may impact the business.
Travel will be required to the various Stevenson sites on occasions. This will be between various sites in the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Auckland.
What we offer:
Stevenson will provide you with a competitive salary relative to the industry. We anticipate the role to be 40 hours a week Monday – Friday, but the nature of this role can accommodate a level of flexibility in work location and hours, provided it works for the business and stakeholders.
