The opportunity Join our Licensing and Regulatory Compliance department in a pivotal role where you will play a crucial part in ensuring and enhancing public health and safety. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring compliance of food businesses, licensing of businesses engaged in health and hygiene activities, and enforcing relevant legislation. Your work will contribute to maintaining, protecting, and improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of the public. In this role, you will undertake registration, verification, and inspection activities for food businesses, as well as licensing processes for hairdressers and health and hygiene establishments. Your contribution will support Council initiatives aimed at safeguarding public health and safety. He korero mou: About you Your background should demonstrate previous experience in Environmental Health, ideally with a focus on conducting inspections and verifications for food businesses, operators, and health and hygiene premises. You should possess appropriate qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent, recognized under the Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1993. Accreditation or approval as a verifier from an ISO accredited organization or the Ministry for Primary Industries will be advantageous. Familiarity with IANZ accredited organizations or other quality management systems is highly desirable. A valid New Zealand driver's license is required for this role, considering the nature of the work and vehicle operation.
