Exam Information:Only the Express Corrections Exam is accepted.
Exam scores are not transferrable to other departments.
Salary:$77,729.60 annually (adjusted based on certification, experience, and training).
Relocation reimbursement up to $7,000 may be available for "out-of-area" hires.
Application Process:Applications for Recruit Deputy positions are accepted continuously. Active hiring cycles occur in January, April, July, and October, depending on the timing of application submission and successful completion of the hiring process.
Requirements:Complete the National Testing Network (NTN) Corrections "REACT" test or provide proof of a bachelor's degree.Lateral applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with different hiring timelines and no NTN testing required.Jail Lateral Candidate Criteria:Must hold an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Basic certification or equivalent.Completed a Field Training Program.At least one year of full-time experience as a certified corrections or jail officer within the past 12 months.Must provide a current law enforcement certification and resume with the application.Physical Abilities Test (PAT):PAT scores must be valid within 12 months of application.Accepted tests include NTN ORPAT, NTN PAT, Washington County hosted PAT, or other official physical fitness tests.Job Role:Jail Recruit Deputies learn basic corrections procedures, rules, and regulations, including booking, prisoner care, security, and transportation.
Key Qualifications:Minimum age: 21 by hire date.Must be a U.S. citizen within 12 months of hire.High school diploma or GED required.Valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Vision: Not less than 20/200 in one or both eyes, corrected to 20/20.Eligible for first aid and CPR certification.Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply. Bilingual pay: $75 per pay period.
Incentive pay available (2%–8%) for certification, training, education, and experience.
