Shama Ethnic Women's Trust Seeking 2 Volunteer Tutor/Conversation Partners to support its Language Support Groups. Volunteers should be able to commit for the sessions for a minimum of 3 months. Sessions are held on Thursdays (Conversations) from 10 am to 12 noon at 8 Liverpool Street, Hamilton Central. Have fun and make a valuable contribution to our community by meeting and helping a diverse range of ethnic women. Work with a group of ethnic women who are learning English language skills necessary for day-to-day living and working in our community. Most students are limited-English speakers. Tutors may also work one-on-one with individuals. Requirements: Minimum of 3 months commitment, commencing in February 2024. 2 hours commitment per week (10 am - 12 noon on Thursdays). Strong desire to improve the English language skills of women. Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not a requirement. We value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn just as much. Sensitivity and patience towards cultural differences. Outgoing and fun-loving personality. Ability to prepare and implement lesson plans independently. Fluency in English. A Police background check is required for this role. Time commitment: At least 2 hours per week on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12 noon.
