About the Role:
As the Engineering & Compliance Manager, you will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for maximizing the reliability and operational effectiveness of the plant's equipment within a budgeted cost structure. You'll ensure compliance with Major Hazard Facility standards, manage change processes, and oversee 'Permit to Work' procedures for engineering teams. You will prepare comprehensive scopes of engineering projects for management and internal/external engineering teams and oversee and ensure the maintenance of the engineering drawings library along with training documentation for HSNO recertification.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure engineering services are consistent and effective, maintaining a high professional level to achieve reliability and longevity of plant and equipment.
Complete projects within specifications, on time, and within budget while ensuring recertification is granted as required.
Adhere to compliance requirements related to Major Hazard Facilities (MHF) and the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (HSNO).
Comply with all relevant compliance and company requirements, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
Manage engineering compliance for dangerous goods and oversee engineering operations ensuring best practices are followed.
Apply working knowledge of piping standards (ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, or AS 2885) and seismic design (AS/NZS 1170).
Ensure proper design and compliance of storage tanks (AS1692, API650, API 653) and liquid/gas storage and distribution systems (piping, valves, containment, etc.).
Lead project management efforts, ensuring effective coordination and execution of engineering projects.
Maintain a robust understanding of compliance and health & safety processes and legislation.
Communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external stakeholders, fostering effective working relationships.
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
Manage high-pressure situations effectively, ensuring compliance and operational excellence at all times.
Key Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
5-10 years in engineering within manufacturing or chemical industries, including 5 years in management.
Proven ability to oversee and deliver engineering projects effectively.
Experience with dangerous goods engineering compliance and health and safety regulations.
Familiarity with the Health & Safety at Work (Major Hazards Facilities) Regulations.
Knowledge of piping standards, seismic design, and storage tank design.
Familiarity with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and automation disciplines.
Understanding of liquid and gas storage and distribution systems.
Understanding of compliance processes, including HSNO.
Strong verbal and written communication to collaborate with stakeholders, with exceptional attention to detail, time management and presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills to resolve safety issues, with the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and environments.
Proven capability to work well under pressure.
