You will focus on supporting learners to engage in a variety of secure online education websites to help improve their skills, knowledge, and transition into further study and/or employment post-release.You will also be supporting a variety of education programmes and activities offered to the women we manage. You will play a significant role in encouraging learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills, work towards achieving New Zealand qualifications, and acquire job search skills.This position is based within our custodial environment; thus, it is imperative that you can effectively lead by example and maintain professional boundaries. By interacting closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external, you will be collaborative in sharing information and ensuring outcomes beneficial to the successful rehabilitation of the wahine in our care.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceExperience assessing and working with young people and adults who have not previously experienced education success.Familiarity with e-learning environments and supporting learners to use them.A good understanding of assessing learning needs and developing individual learning pathway plans.Previously worked in a Kaupapa Maori or Pasifika environment.A tertiary qualification and/or a qualification in Adult Education.Experience working with offenders in a prison environment (not essential).Demonstrated competency in using computer applications including Microsoft Office suite, TEC Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tools.Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.Experience with embedding literacy and numeracy.Experience successfully engaging Maori, Pasifika, and at-risk youth in education.A full NZ Drive Licence.Exceptional communication and organisational skills with the ability to influence, inspire, and motivate.Utu a-tau | SalaryThe salary for this vacancy ranges from $75,341 - $83,643 per annum. The successful applicant's starting salary will be determined by their qualifications, career history, and frontline correctional experience.
