We're looking for a Drinking Water Quality Lead to join our team and support the Manager Water Strategy.In this role, you'll develop and manage water quality systems, oversee regulatory compliance, and drive improvements to protect public health. You'll also play a crucial role in reporting on compliance, identifying key improvement opportunities, and providing oversight for our significant water quality improvement plan.As our Drinking Water Quality Lead your key responsibilities will include: Ensure council policies and drinking water legislative requirements are understood and shared with relevant internal teams. Carry out tasks from the Water Safety Plan related to drinking water quality management. Prepare and maintain sampling schedules to meet all drinking water monitoring requirements. Develop processes, protocols, and SOPs for effective drinking water quality management. Provide regular reports to Council on the drinking water supply status, Water Safety Plan (WSP) progress, and compliance with regulations. Offer expert advice to internal and external stakeholders on drinking water quality issues. Stay well-informed of current drinking water legislation and monitor any regulatory changes. Review resource consents from HBRC related to water source protection and provide responses on time. Regularly update the WSP to reflect the current status and risks of Napier's water supply. Hold annual WSP review workshops with key stakeholders & keep the WSP Improvement Plan and Risk Register updated, adding new improvements and closing completed items with evidence. Manage WSP-related documents and track their revision deadlines. Actively support health and safety strategies and policies. Lead with a solutions-focused approach. To be considered for the position you will have: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field At least 10 years of quality assurance experience in municipal drinking water or the food & beverage industry 2 years of experience in local government or consulting Strong skills in water safety planning, quality assurance, quality control, and risk assessment Experience in program and team management Auditing skills Knowledge of the Water Services Act 2021 and drinking water regulations by Taumata Arowai Public speaking abilities This is a permanent full time position, based at our Cape View location.
