Are you looking for an entry-level role in the Mining Industry?We have a position available for a Field Technician (Drillers off-sider) at Macraes goldmine. A field technician's role is labour intensive, involves repetitive lifting of sample trays (can be up to 10kg at a time) throughout their shift, and requires a safety-conscious attitude (there are a lot of operating procedures to adhere to while on site). The ideal candidate is comfortable doing both day and night shifts, working in all weather conditions (field techs are out there 24/7, rain, hail or sun) and getting their hands dirty.This is a great entry-level position in the mining industry and does not require formal qualifications to be successful – just a can-do, reliable attitude.Roster pattern: 7 days on, 7 days off; 7 nights on; 7 nights off. The hours of work are 6:40 am/pm to 7 pm/am. A company bus is provided to and from work in Dunedin. The bus leaves Dunedin at 5:15 am/pm and will not return until approximately 8:15 pm/am. These are very long days, so the candidate must have the flexibility in their home life to maintain this work cycle.Strong H&S awareness and attitude, ideally prior experience in an industrial or large-scale environment.Prior labouring or physical/manual handling experience is preferable.Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.Must hold a full NZ Driver's licence (preferably confident in a manual as well).Must be physically fit and able to handle lifting sample trays consistently throughout their shifts; approx. 5-10kgs, can be up to 25kgs.Be comfortable in all weather conditions (extreme heat and cold).Be comfortable communicating in a team environment (both face to face and via radio).If you think you have the skills and stamina to be successful in this role, we want to hear from you ASAP.
