The unique role of the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at SLA involves not only developing and coordinating initiatives, but also implementing and supervising them, making it a comprehensive and impactful position.
As a Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at SLA, you will collaborate with various departments to ensure our policies and practices reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion, making it a team-oriented role.
In line with SLA's broader Inclusion and Diversity Strategy, you will oversee the facilitation of the Internship Program as well as the Career Unlock Program (CUP) Pilot, which is a community-based employment initiative offering internship opportunities to those likely to experience barriers in securing meaningful employment.
You will coordinate and conduct training sessions and workshops on diversity, equity, and inclusion, collaborate with HR and leadership to integrate inclusive practices into recruitment, retention, and employee development, monitor and report on the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion efforts, and serve as a resource and advocate for employees on diversity-related issues.
You will also support other diversity and inclusion initiatives across the organisation, such as gender equality, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inclusion, Disability inclusion, and LGBTIQA+ inclusion across the ACT Public Service.
The ideal candidate for this role is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment and firmly understands diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
You are a proactive and empathetic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with diverse groups and able to influence and inspire others.
As part of this role, you will coordinate the REDCO officers within the Suburban Land Agency, collect data, and attend monthly REDCO Coordinator meetings.
You will also coordinate training and engagement with external providers.

Eligibility/Other requirements: Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP): Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant professional experience at a similar level is desirable.
Knowledge and experience in delivering diversity and inclusion strategies and frameworks is desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 23 September 2024 to 28 February 2025, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
