Dispatch/Yard ManagerWe are offering a unique opportunity for a Dispatch/Yard Manager to join a timber yard in Christchurch. This role combines office responsibilities with hands-on forklift operation, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their workday.Key Responsibilities:Office Duties: Prepare dockets for orders, liaise with truck drivers for dispatch coordination, and ensure smooth communication between the yard and delivery teams.On the Forklift: Use an 11-ton forklift to pick up timber packs, get them ready for dispatch, and load trucks for delivery.Yard Oversight: Keep an eye on the yard operations, ensuring everything is in order and running efficiently.Customer Service: Communicate with trucking companies and internal teams to ensure a seamless delivery process.Health and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment, especially while operating the forklift in a busy yard with vehicles and people.What Makes This Role Unique:Split between office work and operating an 11-ton forklift.Opportunity to step into the shoes of a long-standing manager who is retiring – providing an opportunity for a sole charge role.Immediate start for training with the current manager before they retire is possible but accepting new year start applicants as well.Flexible working hours, typically 7 AM to 4 PM, with occasional earlier starts depending on workload.Requirements:Forklift Experience: You must hold a valid forklift ticket and be comfortable operating an 11-ton forklift in an outdoor environment.Timber Industry Knowledge: Ideally, you have experience in the timber industry or similar products, but we encourage candidates from other dispatch industries to apply if you can quickly adapt.Customer Service Skills: Strong communication skills, as you'll be liaising with truck drivers, internal teams, and customers.Health and Safety Awareness: A sound understanding of H&S procedures, particularly when working in a busy yard with vehicles and machinery.Eligibility to Work in New Zealand: You must hold a valid visa with rights to work in New Zealand.Salary:$35 - $50 per hour, depending on skills and experience.Benefits:Unique mix of office and outdoor forklift duties.Opportunity to manage and shape your role.Join a supportive, long-established team in a growing business.If you're ready to take on a role with responsibility and variety, where you can grow and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.For more information or to apply, contact Zangelique at 021 243 6398, or send your CV and cover letter today!
